Who is YASMINE

Yasmine Laraqui is a Casablanca-based multidisciplinary artist, writer, curator, and creative director. Holding an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York, her practice spans painting, installation, writing, and curatorial projects, exploring themes of identity, technology, surveillance, post-capitalism, and social critique.

Alongside her visual practice, Laraqui writes speculative fiction. Her sci-fi novels Mental (2025) and Immersions (2026) follow a protagonist navigating worlds shaped by algorithmic power, technological mediation, and forms of resistance in increasingly controlled societies. These books extend the questions that run through her artistic work, examining how consciousness, perception, and autonomy evolve within systems shaped by data, media, and artificial intelligence.

She is also the founder of LY Connects, a Casablanca-based production agency offering services ranging from commercial photography and video production to curatorial projects and art–technology mediation.
